Dr. Aly M. Mohamed

Dr. Mohamed is a board-certified gastroenterologist and internal medicine physician with over a decade of experience delivering compassionate, high-quality care. He completed his medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin, followed by residency in internal medicine at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, and fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of New Mexico Hospital in Albuquerque.

Before founding Mercy Gate Medical, Dr. Mohamed served as GI Section Chief at the Palo Alto Medical Foundation in Santa Cruz, where he rebuilt the department from the ground up — recruiting physicians, launching new programs, and standardizing protocols that were adopted across the organization.

Dr. Mohamed believes medicine is not just a technical practice, but a moral one. That conviction is sharpened by the history of medicine itself, a history that includes both healing and harm. His leadership reflects that awareness, from standing up for patients in under-resourced communities to speaking out on global issues of medical ethics.

Dr. Mohamed is one of the few physicians in the United States to speak publicly against the ongoing genocide in Gaza. His stance is grounded in the belief that physicians have a professional duty to defend human dignity, wherever and whenever it is under threat.

The name Mercy Gate reflects a conviction that something essential is missing in the way healthcare — and the world — often operates. Mercy is not softness; it’s strength grounded in humanity. It means listening when others rush, showing care where others cut corners, and protecting dignity even when it’s inconvenient.
